How to sign a PDF without uploading it

Add a visual signature to a PDF in your browser. The document and signature stay on your device.

Updated 5 October 2026. This guide covers visual signatures, not certificate-based digital signatures.

What the tool does

The PDF signing tool accepts one PDF up to 50 MiB and 50 pages. You can draw a signature with a mouse, trackpad or touchscreen, or type your name. Choose the page, place the signature on its preview and download a new PDF.

The result contains a visual signature image. It does not create a certificate-based digital signature or prove who placed the image. The source PDF is read in your browser and is not uploaded.

Sign the PDF in four steps

  1. Open the PDF signing tool and select your document.
  2. Choose Draw or Type to create the signature.
  3. Select a page, click the preview to place the signature and drag it to adjust its position.
  4. Choose Sign PDF, download the new file and review it.

Check the downloaded file

Open the signed PDF and confirm that the signature is on the intended page, is legible and is not cut off. Check that the other content still appears as expected. Keep the original unsigned file until you have approved the result.

When it may fail

Encrypted, damaged or unsupported PDFs may not open or save correctly. The browser accepts one PDF up to 50 MiB and 50 pages. If a file fails, confirm that it opens normally in a PDF reader and try an unprotected copy.

PDF signing questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The file and signature stay in your browser. Loading the page still makes normal website and analytics requests.

Can I sign multiple pages?

The tool places one signature on one selected page at a time. Download the result and load it again for another page.

What type of signature does this create?

It creates a visual signature image. It is not a certificate-based digital signature and does not include technical identity verification.
