Law firm website transparency statistics
In August 2026 we scanned the public websites of 5,770 SRA regulated law firms across 808 towns in England and Wales. The scan recorded whether each site showed the information the SRA expects firms to display. These are the results.
National findings
Of the 5,770 firm websites scanned:
- 88% showed the clickable SRA badge. On 12% of sites the scan did not find it.
- 87% showed complaints information. On 13% the scan did not find it.
- 74% mentioned the Legal Ombudsman. On 26% the scan did not find a mention.
- 6% showed price information for at least one service. On 94% the scan did not find any.
- 79% displayed an SRA number the scan could read.
Automated findings from public pages only. "Not found" means the scan did not detect the item on the pages it read on the scan date; it may sit on a page the scan did not reach. This is not a legal opinion, and no finding here is a statement that any firm has broken a rule.

Method
The scan read the public pages of each firm's website in August 2026 and looked for five signals: the clickable SRA digital badge, complaints information, a mention of the Legal Ombudsman, price information for legal services, and an SRA number that matches the SRA register. Sites that blocked automated reading or could not be scanned reliably were excluded from the sample. Firms can ask us to re-check or correct their entry at any time.
