Resize images online

Resize JPG, PNG and WebP images directly in your browser. Set a maximum width or height, preserve the aspect ratio, and adjust output quality. Nothing leaves your device.

JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MiB and 24 million pixels. Neither side may exceed 8,192 pixels. Your image is not uploaded or saved. Smaller files work better on phones.

These are maximum dimensions. The result keeps the source aspect ratio, so it may be smaller than one limit. The tool does not crop or stretch images to force exact dimensions.

Quality applies to JPEG and WebP. PNG does not use this setting. Resizing keeps the aspect ratio and never enlarges the image. JPEG replaces transparency with white.

Image resizing questions

How do I resize an image online?

Select a JPG, PNG or WebP image, enter an optional maximum width or height, choose the output format and quality, then select Resize image.

Can I resize an image without uploading it?

Yes. Your browser reads and resizes the selected image locally. The image is not uploaded or saved by this tool. Loading this page still makes normal website and analytics requests. Analytics can record resizing and downloading, but not your image, filename, dimensions or settings.

Will resizing preserve the aspect ratio?

Yes. If you set a maximum width or height, the tool keeps the original aspect ratio and never enlarges the image.

Can I resize an image to exact dimensions?

The width and height fields set maximum dimensions. The tool preserves the original aspect ratio, so the output may be smaller than one limit when the source has a different shape. It does not crop or stretch the image to force exact dimensions.

How do I resize a photo to 1920x1080?

Set maximum width to 1920 and maximum height to 1080. The result fits inside that box while keeping the original aspect ratio; it may not be exactly 1920x1080 unless the source has the same 16:9 ratio.

Can I enlarge an image without losing quality?

No. This tool never enlarges images. It can reduce dimensions while preserving the aspect ratio, but reducing dimensions removes pixel data.

How do I reduce file size without losing image quality?

PNG uses lossless encoding, but the output may be larger. JPEG and WebP can produce smaller files with lossy encoding, so check the preview before downloading.

What causes image quality loss when resizing?

Reducing dimensions removes pixel data, and JPEG or WebP output uses lossy encoding. This Canvas conversion also creates a still image without the original camera metadata.

Does resizing an image lower quality?

Reducing the dimensions changes the pixels. JPEG and WebP may also lose detail because they use lossy encoding; PNG uses lossless encoding, but it cannot restore pixels removed by resizing.

Which image formats can I resize?

Select JPG, PNG or WebP. You can create JPEG, PNG or WebP output when your browser supports the selected format.

Why is the output file sometimes larger?

Some images are already optimized. Try WebP or JPEG, reduce the quality, or set a smaller maximum dimension when the destination allows it. There is no guaranteed file size or reduction.

What happens to animation and metadata?

The result is a single still image. Animation and original camera metadata are not retained by this Canvas conversion. Colour appearance may change. Keep your original file if you need its metadata or animation.
