How to crop a PDF without uploading it

You can change the visible page area by setting margins in a browser-local PDF tool. The source file stays on your device.

Updated 5 October 2026. The examples use PDF points, the unit used by the file format.

Use the browser-local crop tool

  1. Open the PDF crop tool.
  2. Select one PDF up to 50 MiB and 50 pages.
  3. Enter the top, right, bottom and left margins in points.
  4. Choose Crop PDF, then download and review the result.

The conversion runs in the browser. The tool does not upload the PDF or require an account.

How PDF points work

A PDF uses points for page measurements. There are 72 points in one inch, so a 36 point margin is half an inch. Enter the amount to hide on each side. The same margins are applied to every page, so check the smallest page when a document uses mixed sizes.

Crop is not redaction

A crop box changes the area a viewer displays. It does not promise that content outside the box has been removed from the file. Do not use this tool to hide confidential text, signatures or personal data. Use a proper redaction workflow and verify the exported file when permanent removal matters.

Review the output

Open the cropped PDF in a separate viewer and compare the first, middle and last pages with the original. Check page size, headers, footers, tables and any annotations. Keep the original until the result is approved.

Common limits

The browser tool accepts one PDF up to 50 MiB and 50 pages. Encrypted, damaged or unsupported PDFs may fail. Large or complex files can need more browser memory. Normal page and anonymous analytics requests still occur, but the selected PDF is not uploaded by the tool.
